Story

Following the outbreak in Wuhan China, New York City became an instant hotspot for the COVID-19 pandemic. Gov. Cuomo ordered a mandatory shelter-in-place for all non-essential workers in March 2020. With over 39,000 cases, it became imperative for our community to start working together to flatten the curve. NYC COVID Relief was founded on the principle of aiding underserved communities that are currently being hit the hardest and with its members often unaware of community efforts: Brooklyn, Bronx, Elmhurst, Staten Island, Yonkers.

Update: As of May 1, 165000 cases have been documented in NYC alone.

We started as a grassroots project and centralized hub of public resources to the general community in one location:
  (1) PPE donation lines for healthcare providers
  (2) PPE supplier lines for healthcare institutions (private)
  (3) Resources for displaced NYC workers, individuals and small businesses
  (4) Educational material to those not in the know (immigrants, students, parents, etc)
  (5) Local on-the-ground donation runs
  (6) Serving as a direct contact to distribute and/or re-distribute donated PPE to hospitals

In collaboration with sister organizations, we're now also working towards:
  (1) basic PPE and testing kits to Nursing Homes and secluded areas of the city, hidden hotspots for COVID deaths

While our focus is with NYC, many of our resources are applicable to NYS and other states. If interested in volunteering, please fill out our volunteer form.
